Mandate The Committee is competent to examine issues concerning the political system, the functioning of and relationship between State institutions, religions, the administration of justice, the full enjoyment of human rights, constitutional guarantees and the security of citizens. To this end, it examines bills, carries out investigations and exercises control. It studies, promotes, elaborates and carries out projects, resolutions, petitions and other matters within its field of competence.
Membership Like other standing committees, the Committee may not have less than seven and more than 25 members. In determining its composition, preferences of MPs are taken into account as well as the numerical importance of parliamentary groups.
Working methods The Committee has five sub-committees, one of which deals with human rights and constitutional guarantees.
